Do you see algae? – bringing the Baltic Sea into Poland’s cities

This summer, Race For The Baltic launched its first public awareness campaign in Poland. “Do you see algae?” aimed to make eutrophication easier to understand and show how activities on land – including wastewater and nutrient losses – affect the Baltic Sea.

From June to August, the campaign appeared on 600 digital screens across Poland’s largest cities, supported by a dedicated website and extensive media outreach. The combined campaign reached around 17 million people, while media activities generated close to 1,000 publications.

The campaign was made possible through pro bono support from Weber Shandwick, Touchideas and JetLine, together with a volunteer project team. Their contribution helped us take an issue that can often feel technical and make it visible to millions of people in their everyday lives.
