Race For The Baltic is a non-profit organization founded by the IT-entrepreneur Niklas Zennström and his wife Catherine Zennström. Race For The Baltic has focused its efforts on restoring the health of one of the world’s most polluted and dead seas, the Baltic Sea.

Impact Technology Analyst

At Race For The Baltic, we are strong supporters of technology as an enabler to have a positive impact. While there are many interesting technologies that are currently available, a comprehensive overview of the relevant technologies is missing. Therefore we are seeking an intern to lead this evaluation.

Internship Description

The aim of the internship is to research, evaluate and summarize the potential of technologies and solutions that can help to solve the environmental pressures on the Baltic Sea.

The evaluation will focus on:

  • understanding the environmental impact

  • the technology cost structure

  • the potential of the technology

While many technologies and solutions already have been identified, additional market research will be required.

A part of the team

The internship starts in the beginning of September and will last for approximately 3-4 months. The intern will report to the CEO. 

As a member of a small and multi-faceted team, you also will be given an opportunity to contribute to our organization in general and expected to support on administrative tasks.

The ideal candidate

  • is looking to gain experience in evaluating innovations and technologies 

  • finds the idea of working for impact, exciting

  • has completed, or is the final year of a Master’s degree within engineering or business 

  • is proactive, can take initiative and manage a project 

  • welcomes the opportunity to roll up your sleeves and do what is required


  • Excellent research and analytical skills; resourceful when it comes to collecting information and able to produce a synthesis.

  • Passionate about innovation, technologies and business.

  • Eager to learn and work in a friendly, collaborative and dynamic environment.

  • Proactive and able to work independently.

  • Has an interest or experience in water issues, or other environmental issues, would be a considerable plus.

This internship is non-paid and we are not able to reimburse any eventual costs for commuting. However, the internship can be used as school credit.
