Full-day conference "Baltic Sea Solutions" in conjunction with this year's Baltic Sea Day

The blue economy was the overarching theme at the full-day conference "Baltic Sea Solutions," a forum aimed at highlighting how the business sector can reduce its negative impact and contribute to a healthier Baltic Sea. The conference, organised by Race For The Baltic in cooperation with strong partners, was held in conjunction with Baltic Sea Day. Baltic Sea Day is an annual event taking place on the last Thursday of August.

The full-day conference "Baltic Sea Solutions," in conjunction with Baltic Sea Day, addressed how the business sector can reduce its negative impact and promote a healthier Baltic Sea. The focus was on the concept of the blue economy, a term introduced in 2012 at the UN Sustainable Development Conference in Rio, encompassing sectors such as fishing, aquaculture, maritime transport, and renewable energy.

Henrik Sidebäck, an investor and one of the six founders of the consulting giant Netlight, participated in the panel on startups. He believes that Sweden has the potential to become a pioneering nation in blue technology, especially as the Baltic Sea can serve as a testing ground for innovations that can later be applied to other seas worldwide.

Race For The Baltic organized the conference in collaboration with Havsfonden, Stiftelsen Hållbara Hav, Swedbank, Mannheimer Swartling, MSC, WWF, Guldhaven Pelagiska, Siemens, Vattenresurs AB, and Svenskt Vatten. The keynote speakers for the day were Klas Eklund, Chief Economist at Mannheimer Swartling, and Peter Norman, former Minister for Financial Markets and current Chairman of Nasdaq. The day was moderated by environmental journalist Catarina Rolfsdotter-Jansson.

The conference was recorded, and here you can access the recordings.
