Port Project 2.0

Business managers Kamil Jagodzinski and Julia Gerlach on a site visit at Åhus Port.

The Port Project has entered its next phase and will target even more ports where Race For The Baltic can implement initiatives against eutrophication. We have identified four ports in Poland and Lithuania where our prevention cover solution could have a great impact on the phosphorus inflow to the Baltic Sea.

Awareness and education of the effect on fertilizer emission into the Baltic Sea is a big part of the Port Project. That is why we are developing training material with information and best practices which the ports can share with their employees.

Among the already accomplished activities we have several exciting activities ahead. In the past weeks we have contacted several terminal owners in Gdansk Port. Next will be to meet up with stakeholders in Polish ports to present the Port Project and what we can do together to ensure a healthier Baltic Sea!

Lastly, we want to thank Åhus Port for arranging a site visit and presentation for us of their tremendous and impressive work with emission reduction into the sea and air. While in Åhus, we also met up with Kirnova-based Jan Persson to hear about the WISA Stormwater project in ports, very interesting work that we will follow with great curiosity as it reaches its final stages in the coming months.
