About Race For The Baltic
Race For The Baltic is an independent non-profit founded in 2013 by Zennström Philanthropies, with teams in Sweden and Poland.
Our mission is to accelerate solutions for a healthy Baltic Sea by 2030.
We focus on one of the Baltic Sea's greatest environmental challenges: eutrophication caused by excess phosphorus and nitrogen. Our goal is to reduce annual phosphorus inputs by 500 tonnes by 2030, helping the Baltic Sea move towards recovery.
Turning ambition into action
We believe that meaningful change comes from practical solutions with measurable impact.
We identify opportunities, bring together the right expertise and turn promising ideas into action. Our work is guided by environmental impact, cost-effectiveness and the potential to create lasting change.
Independent action. Collective impact.
Our independence allows us to focus on solutions that deliver the greatest benefit to the Baltic Sea. We are supported by Scandinavian philanthropists, entrepreneurs and investors, alongside EU and national funding programmes.
A healthier Baltic Sea requires collaboration. We work closely with researchers, public authorities, non-profits, entrepreneurs and businesses to accelerate solutions and create lasting impact.
A Shared Sea. A Shared Responsibility. A Shared Opportunity.
